This past weekend I was in Houston. I ministered at LRC (Life Revealing Community) on Friday night. LRC is Houston’s only ‘Weekend Free Church’. The people gather on Friday night for their time of weekly worship and teaching. It is always good to be with my long time friend Ernie Fitzpatrick and the good people of LRC.

On Saturday and Sunday I was at Ashford Community Church. George Arzymonow is the pastor. I taught a class on “Passion” to the leadership team on Saturday morning. On Sunday morning I ministered to the body on the subject “Great Expectations”. George and Christine are always wonderful host. I love staying in their home. It is so refreshing.

After taking a couple weeks off to move into our new home on the west side of San Antonio, I finally had to go back to work. This past Sunday I ministered for my long time good friend Rick Godwin at Summit Christian Center. Pastor Rick and Cindy finally got away for a well deserved long overdue vacation. I have the opportunity to minister at the Summit at least once a year. It was so good to be back and to see our many friends. Since it was the week before Father’s Day I chose to minister on “Four Things My Dad Left Me.”

Home at last…

Home at last…

06/11/2010 in From the Back Porch...

I realize it has been a couple of weeks since I’ve added a post. If you follow this blog then you know we have been very busy downsizing and moving into our half the square footage new home across town. Yes it’s a nice feeling living in a new home, but it’s even a better feeling getting rid of a lot of crap (pardon the expression). We were able to give away another whole house full of furniture that would not fit. We now are like a newly wed couple just getting started in our new life.

Preacher’s Wife and I are finally moved into our new home (with the exception of 25 or 30 boxes left to unpack). I never realized how much I would enjoy Hill Country Retreat here in San Antonio (a Del Webb adult community). We’ve already met over 10 of our new neighbors up and down the street and actually had a meaningful conversation. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Of course you know I travel on the weekends when most working people have the weekend off, therefore I rarely got to know any of our neighbors at the old address.

Kindle vs iPad…

Kindle vs iPad…

05/24/2010 in From the Back Porch...

I love my ipad, I love my Macbook Pro, I love my iphone and I love my ipod. But I also love my Kindle. There’s so much to be said about both.

The thing that bugs me about people’s reactions to the iPad is when people say it’s a Kindle killer. First of all, I’m pretty sure that most of the people saying such things do not own a Kindle. I do. The Kindle is a a totally different device.

Here’s where the Kindle wins out:
-Battery life: 10 days vs. 10 hours.
-Form factor. This is the biggest one and there

Just two more weeks…

Just two more weeks…

Our downsizing project is coming to end. In less than two weeks we will close on the new house and make our journey across town to meet our new neighbors. I don’t know about you and your family but we’ve collected a lot of stuff through the years that we’ve just been storing. The time has come to say goodbye to it.
Our present house has not yet sold. I must say it has been nice not having to quickly move out, put things in storage and rent an apartment to live in until the new house was finished. But it is time now for it to sell. Please feel free to agree with us for a quick sale.
