Just for today…I will

We must obey and cooperate with God for the fulfilling of our destiny. When we discover His purposes and His plans for our live,s and are willing to cooperate in carrying them out, we are on our way to seeing our destiny fulfilled in Him.

Years ago I discovered an article entitled, “Just for Today” written by Sibyl F. Partridge. I have found as I practice these, they seem to eliminate most of my needless worries and increases my productivity.

JUST FOR TODAY…

Just for today I will be happy. This assumes what Abraham Lincoln said is true, that “most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” Happiness is a matter from within; it is not a matter of externals.

Just for today I will try to adjust myself to what is, and not try to adjust everything to my own desires. I will take my family, my business, my ministry, and my everyday life as they come and fit my life to them, rather than trying to feel I must adjust everything in my life to me.

Just for today I will take care of my body. I will exercise it, care for it, nourish it, not abuse it or neglect it, so that it will be the best machine for the carrying out of His plans.

Just for today I will try to strengthen my mind. I will learn something useful. I will not be a mental loafer. I will read something that requires effort, thought, and concentration.

Just for today I will exercise my soul in three ways; I will do someone a good turn and not get found out. I will do at least two things I don’t really want to do just for the exercise or practice.

Just for today I will be agreeable. I will look as well as I can, dress as becomingly as possible, speak kindly, act courteously, be liberal with praise / encouragement, criticize not at all, nor find fault with anything and not try and regulate or control anyone else.

Just for today I will try to live through this day only, not try to tackle my whole life problems at once. I can do things for twelve hours that appall that if I had to keep them up for a lifetime.

Just for today I will make a “to do” list. I will write down what I need to do. I may not follow it exactly but I will have it. It will eliminate two pests: hurrying and indecision.

Just for today I will have a quiet half –hour all by myself and relax. I will place my thoughts on God and get a little better perspective for my life.

Just for today I will be unafraid, especially I will not be afraid to be happy, to enjoy what is beautiful, to love, and to believe that those I love, love me.

If you want to develop a mental attitude that will bring peace and joy, here is Rule # 1
Think and act joyfully and you will have and feel it.

If one does this everyday just for today before long it will change their thinking resulting in a change in their doing, which will result in a change of actions and result in new benefits and rewards.

“Our life is what our thoughts make it.”
